Low Places

Many bands email me about posting their shit on my blog and not much actually gets posted. This band, however, is the best band I have heard in a long, long time. Low Places are a band hailing from Los Angeles, CA playing sludgy and thrashy in-the-face hardcore that will awaken the inner tomahawk mosher in you. They pretty much sound like a punkier version of Badmouth. Although the song "Sleeping In" sounds exactly like something off of Trash Talk's Self Titled LP. Don't let this scare you, though. I know it's not cool to like TT anymore. Give these guys a chance. They deserve your attention.

Thanks to Vince (Low Places), Christopher Rendon (photo) and Kitteh (Make Friends With Time). You can buy the 7" through Recession Records at the end of the year.

The Ominous Order Of Filthy Mongrels

The Ominous Order of Filthy Mongrels is a band of 5 dudes from Toms River, NJ, USA. They play some heavy, but catchy, ass hardcore. They bring an exciting crusty and metallic sound to the table. Bringing to mind bands like Cursed and Pulling Teeth, but I think that fans of Moutheater and Burning Love would enjoy this.
This band is signed on the label Chainsaw Safety Records, who are known for releasing records from bands such as Black Army Jacket, Pulling Teeth, Voorhees, Seraphim, Sick Of Talk, Gray Ghost and much more. Cool stuff. "Filthy Mongrels" is also giving out free copies of their Demo at their shows so go check it out.

McCruelty

McCruelty: I'm Hatin' It--Learn More.

"cool that you put this up here. the problem is, however, that PETA supports welfarist measures. with a campaign like this, they send the message that it is acceptable for us to enslave or kill chickens as long as they die a "less brutal" death.

but how can we justify any murder? it's not the way we torture and kill, it's the fact that we do that is to be considered unethical. every animal, no matter how small, can feel pain and fear, can suffer and want to live in freedom. all of us have the same interest in life, no matter wheter we're pigs, chickens, cows, dogs, fish, cats or humans. that makes us equal. discriminating an animal (and as a result of this, exploiting him or her) for being not human is no different from racism, sexism or classism. this form of discrimination is called speciesism and from childhood on, they forcefeed us to think like this.

we have to break free from the traditional thinking that it is acceptable to exploit others for whatever reason. animals are not to be used as resources or slaves, and we can have an immediate effect in this by choosing not to partake, by going vegan.

until all are free!"

The Rip Offs

The Rip Offs was a Garage Punk/Punk Rock quartet. Sprung out of San Fransisco which seemed to have been the desert of Punk Rock at the time (1993), they wanted to do something new and out of place. They decided to play gnarly, loud punk rock while wearing nylons over their heads during live performances. Members of Supercharger, Fingers and The Mr. T Experience. They broke up in 1995. Good stuff.

Divisions

Divisions were a sludgy, metallic, lo-fi hardcore/powerviolence trio from Florida. One of the best bands of the 2000's. Reminds me (a Converge superfan) of Converge and the Youth Attack bands everyone seems to be loving right now like Vile Gash, Nazi Dust and perhaps Aerosols. This band has members from The Holy Mountain, Slavescene, Merchandise and possibly more.

Salvation

So in lack of anything new and interesting to post I will just post something most of you people should know about already.
This is Salvation. A hardcore punk band from Pennsylvania. They sound like pretty much anything else on Youth Attack and I love it. You should too. Apparently they were known as Easter Kids before.

Veins

Veins performs in the timeless tradition of American HardCore, storming through six anthemic songs in just under seven minutes. Lyrical themes touch on the decay and hopelessness of ideals mirrored by a rough and explosive production quality to present the bleakest and most intense presentation possible.

They are from New York, NY/Netherlands and members have been and are playing in bands such as Drunkdriver, Das Oath, Charles Bronson and many more.

Wasteland

Wasteland is a hardcore band from Western Massachusetts/Rhode Island. Sound like a melodic Aerosols. A bit less anger and a bit less speed but just as fucking good. Almost what you would consider to be "screamo". They are playing their last show sometime next week in Amherst, MA. Don't miss it.

Vile Gash 7"

Here is the brand new and awaited 7" from Youth Attack "stars" Vile Gash. About 10 months ago I posted their neckbreaking first 2 demo's and they have since then been touring the east coast rapidly and released their "cassingle" entitled "Leech".

This new self titled 7" is their best release so far in my opinion and it's definatly the best 2010 release I've heard so far this year.
It was up on youth attack last night and sold out in what? 1 hour? It will be up for repress in some time, I guess. KEEP AN EYE OUT.

The link I uploaded at first for the new 7" had one track missing so here you fucking go. It's fixed. I am not sorry. Thanks to Bill.

Raw Nerve LP

Brand new release from Youth Attack band Raw Nerve. It hasn't been released on YA! yet but the dude from the Narrow Mind blog picked the LP up at their release show and decided to rip it. I figured it won't change anything if I post it. YA will only press a few hundred copies and it will be sold out in a matter of hours anyway. Also, I forgot to post the awesome Teens In Heat EP from this band. Added it now.

I don't know much about this band at all except for that they are an awesome hardcore band from Boston, MA. Formed in 2008(?) and features members from bands such as Mind Eraser and Knife Fight. Raw, fast rock 'n' roll hardcore reminding me of Discharge and some classic US 80's hardcore bands. One of the best bands right now.

Mature Situations

Mature Situations is a old school party rock 'n' roll/hardcore punk three-piece from Toronto, Ontario. They have some kind of awesome mature fetish and that's all they sing about. They even dress up as elders on their shows. I honestly thought I already posted this band when they released their demo, about a year ago, but apparently not. Here it is + an EP.
Features Chris Colohan of Cursed, Ruination, Left For Dead, Burning Love, etc, etc, etc.

Sons Of Ishmael

Sons Of Ishmael was a hardcore band from small town Meaford, Ontario. They existed from 1985-1992 and they had a bunch of releases. This is everything but their tracks from some compilation albums and the first EP released under the name Angry Thalidomide Babies.

Hayseed Hardcore and Pariah Martyr Demands a Sacrifice is some of the best 80's hardcore I have ever heard. So fast and so fucking pissed off.
The last two records were slower and more experimental and they were both recorded and released in Germany on Sell-Out Activities. God knows how they ended up there. I hate Germany.

Zero Progress

So last week or so I got mailed by Moe from Which Side Records and she offered me a copy of these guys (kind of..) new demo in trade of a review. How could I say no? I now have a merry collection of 2 cassette tapes.

I had heard of this band before I was confronted by Moe but I'd never give them a fair chance. On beforehand I saw that they had gotten a lot of positive feedback on the last.fm shoutbox of theirs and it seems like this band is going to get recognized.

Zero Progress is a 4-piece band from Danville/San Fransisco, CA and they seem awesome straight forward and down to earth dudes. Their sound reminds me a lot of the faster bands hardcore from the mid 80's.
This band is awesome and they have only just begun.

Inactivity

Hey everyone. The reason I haven't posted anything for a while is that I have encountered some sort of virus that has made everything involving google unavailable to me. Therefore I can't log on to Blogger. I've tried to fix it but with no luck. I am now using some kind of proxy server, wich fucking blows and barely works.

Nevertheless, I'll be posting something new soon. Pherhaps the new Aerosols stuff. Keep refreshing.
